Stability
With four wheels and a center of gravity that's balanced by weight of your child's seat, 4-wheel buggies are generally thought to be more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are still worthwhile to consider as they are able to handle everything from rough terrain to busy streets.
Look for a buggy with large rear wheels, and a lockable wheel on the front. This makes it easier to drive and less likely to fall apart when you're on rough roads. If so, check for the ability to lie flat and if the design is compatible with second seats and buggy boards (if you want to add a toddler onboard). A lot of 3-wheelers fold flat and can be upright when folded and is handy if you have limited space in your car boot or limited storage space at home. Some 3-wheelers require you take off the front wheel to fold into smaller spaces.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies generally offer better manoeuvrability than four-wheeled pushchairs. If you're thinking of taking your three-wheeled buggy off paved tracks, it's worth selecting a model with air-filled tyres (also called pneumatic tyres) which are able to withstand the most difficult terrain. These tyres may need to be filled from time to time, but they will be more durable and puncture-proof than solid tyres. It is recommended to choose a model that has a swiveling front wheel that is locked to assist you in navigating tricky surfaces.
When folded, three-wheelers may be more bulky than buggies with four wheels because of the single wheel on the front.
