1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum that mops vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuums that mop we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
