Abilities

Leader's boss fight starts with two other enemies, bodyguards. They each have two attacks.

Kunai Throw: A bodyguard will grab kunais and throw them into the air, spinning.

Jump Slash: A bodyguard will leap once, ready their katana, then leap into the air and slash at the player.

  • This attack has a large counter window, before and during the entire slash.

After one is defeated, or too much time has passed, Leader will join the fight.

Leader has two attacks in his first phase, and uses four in a row. In his second phase, he will sometimes chase the player down before attacking.

Overhead Slash: Leader raises his katana above his head, then slash down.

  • Once Leader uses this attack, the rest of his attacks for that set will be Overhead Swing.
  • Unlike Jin's and Shadow Jin's versions, this attack cannot be directly countered.

Explosive Draw: Leader crouches, sheathing his katana, then dashes forward, unsheathing his katana with a long forward slash. He travels further during his second phase.

  • This attack can be countered, right before Leader dashes forward.

Strategy

Leader's bodyguards don't have much health, and are easy to counter, but can still deal annoying damage if left alive. Consider bringing both to low health and kill them at near the same time to avoid fighting them and Leader at the same time.

While Leader is a simple boss in terms of moves, he leaves few openings for attack. This can make him unexpectedly tricky.

Throw projectiles can be used to create stun opportunities on both of Leader's attacks. However, if they hit him during the actual swing, they will instead be reflected back and damage the player.

Leader doesn't have much in terms of vertical damage. Staying above him and pogoing is a valid strategy.

It is difficult to roll or Homing Slash through Leader's Overhead Slash, because he can turn until the attack actually comes out. Instead, stay away, or double roll through.
