Items and Upgrade Components in World of Warcraft
The ability to upgrade items is a great way to increase the value of your weapon and armor. Upgrades to common and magical equipment aren't worth it, since rare or unique items are likely to outperform them.
An item upgrading can be upgraded up to six times. Each upgrade adds points to the gauge for the item's level.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade materials that can be used to increase the attributes of an item upgrading. Glyphs can be used to upgrade weapons or armor. They can also be used to improve a hat or ring or necklace or other accessory. Glyphs can be found at a variety of levels and can be bought from vendors located in the city of Deneb. They're expensive, but worth it as they increase the stats of an item upgrader kit.

Each upgrade level costs a certain amount of Valorstones and crests and weapons typically cost the most. Additionally, you'll have to complete certain quests to acquire the required materials. If you wish to upgrade your armor, for example you'll require one of three Power Dices that are dropped by monsters who are above level 21 and certain amounts of Erons and Minerals.
Recycled items

Suffix

Upgrades are only available to items with a blue or higher rarity, such as those dropped from end-chests in Factions and Nightfall campaigns. Items with upgrade components cannot be used to make new items.

Item affixes can be applied to all items up to level 80 and are not applicable to hand-crafted ascended armour as well as trinkets that are crafted.
