Choosing a Double running pushchair Twin
If you have twins, you'll need a double pushchair to take them from A to B. Our range includes a range of twin prams and double buggies with various configurations to suit your family requirements.
Find a stroller that can fold in one step, and easily put into your boot. You may also prefer an ultra-light design that is easy to maneuver and navigate, particularly if you have busy streets to navigate.
Side-by-Side
This is the most popular double pushchair. It usually seats two children side-by-side. They're generally wider than single pushchairs car seats. This makes them less maneuverable on the footpaths. It is also difficult to move between kerbs when a car seat is attached. However, the extra width does mean that they're usually easier to navigate through doors and are distributed more evenly making them less burdensome to carry around on your back.
They can be used as a twin pram from the beginning and a lot of models can accommodate a carrycot or 2 car seats. Some can even convert into one mode by adding the basket (like the Cybex Venus).
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a excellent example of this. In Twin Mode, you can put the rear seat alongside the carrycot. This allows you to create an entirely enclosed twin space and is perfect for babies. This pram also comes with a number of really neat accessories, including the newborn cocoons which can be attached to face either direction (for a twin-facing pram and travel system) or facing inwards (for a standard single). It's not as light as other options, but it's really cleverly thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for its innovative pushchairs, and the single-to-double isn't an exception. Its clever frame expands widthways to take a second seat, and you can use it as a twin from birth, thanks to the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) which provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for infants. The large basket of shopping behind the seat lets it be used in mono mode for a single child. It comes with both front and rear suspension, so it can handle bumps and uneven surfaces with ease. The top choice among our reviewers.
Available in a variety of elegant colors.
Tandem
If you're planning to have twins, you need a pushchair that can allow the children to sit together so that they can see each one another. They are perfect for visiting the zoo, as children can look at the animals together. They're also ideal for parents who need to keep an eye on their toddler and the other on their baby because they can see both of them simultaneously.
Some tandem pushchairs are incredibly adaptable, as they can be converted to single mode. This is particularly beneficial when you are planning to have more children than two (or in the event that your child who is the oldest isn't a need for a buggy any longer). This will save you from having to store a buggy empty, which can be expensive.
The Cybex Venus, for example, can be used either in double or mono mode. Its frame can expand to accommodate a second seat. It's not the lightest of pushchairs, but it offers a large shopping basket which is located behind the front seat when in double mode (and at the back of the seat when it's mono mode). The seats can be placed in a way that they face each other or higher up to see what the other is doing.
Some double tandem pushchairs car seats like the Joolz Geo 3, are equipped to place one on top of the other or side-by-side. The slim, sleek frame makes it easier to maneuver through doorways and aisles in supermarkets. Some models can also be used on uneven terrain or for a jogging walk thanks to their wide rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
A tandem pushchair can be used to carry two carrycots or a car and buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an entire travel system from the beginning and not making separate purchases. It's worth remembering that tandems are heavier and longer than single pushchairs, and may feel less stable when as you go over uneven surfaces. They also have to be dismantled for fitting into cars.
