Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade item statistics will be, as well as the necessary element or material required for the upgrade to take place.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type limitation. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of the item's name. For example the addition of a Glyph will transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools If a player replaces one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from earlier versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
If an item is finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to be given affixes that increase its features. The number of affixes available depends on the item's base type. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have no more than two affixes available for it, while a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests, depending on the current level of the item upgrader kit and the item slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower chance of success.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can drastically enhance an item level upgrade's strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item upgrader kit. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be handled with care.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This could be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the better your chance of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also features a number of sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is a good way to give a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, allowing players to advance in the game and attain higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be different dimensions, have no elements, or only contain one element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.
Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own special functions that can be useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can improve their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. This will display the item's characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their power. This will also increase the defense of armor with an updated look.
