1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and works when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum cleaner reviews mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
