The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuums that mop vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop (Trade-Britanica.trade) cleaners we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
