A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed
If you're looking to keep your baby as close as possible to him at night without getting out of the bed, a crib for bed is the ideal solution. The fabric is breathable, which allows you to easily see your baby and they're super easy to lower for those bleary-eyed 3am feeds.
Some also double up as a moses basket, too.
What is a bedside crib?
A bedside sleeper cot crib, also referred to as a bassinet, or co-sleeper is a baby cot that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your child to sleep with you in safety. This is a secure form of co-sleeping and doesn't increase the risk of SIDS as bedsharing does. It can also help you bond with your newborn baby.
They usually come with a side that can be raised, so you can easily reach your infant during the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly helpful for mothers who are recovering from a csection. Many of them are portable or foldable so you can use them for travel and as an interim solution for babies who aren't quite ready to transition to a larger crib.
Look for a crib with a mattress that is breathable, as well as an extra-safe cover that will keep your baby safe from stains. It is also advisable to pick up some baby-safe add-ons like a blanket, teether and a cuddly toys.
If you're looking for a more long-term alternative, some cribs are equipped with conversion kits that allow you to turn them into a cot or a toddler bed at the time of need. This will prolong their life and make the transition easier. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be converted into a bassinet. Others can be used with either a regular adult bed or a high-rise bed. This is a good choice for families who are planning on frequent travel or switching between bedrooms throughout the night. You should also think about the size of your room to ensure you can fit the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have a riser which can be used to create an inclined position for infants who suffer from reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib made by the English brand Joie is a wonderful addition to their range of high-quality products for infants. This crib was designed to enable parents to connect and sleep side-by-side with their babies, without sharing a single bed. It's loaded with features that make bonding between parent and baby safe, easy and enjoyable.
One of the key features is a soft rocking motion that can be activated by the press of the button. It can help soothe baby bedside crib to sleep by a gentle rhythm that doesn't disrupt their natural sleeping routine. This is great for toddlers and older babies who are struggling to settle. It can also help with digestive issues like reflux and colic.
The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed using an attachment strap and clip. This makes it solid and secure, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep without having to worry about your child falling off into the middle of the room. The round shape of the cocoon features soft padded side panels and double mesh windows on both ends. This allows for airflow while ensuring your baby's safety.
The mattress comes with a soft and comfortable, and has a removable cover. The lightweight aluminium frame makes the crib extremely portable and easy to assemble. The four wheels that lock are covered with rubber to ensure that the crib won't leave marks on your floor and are easy to move around. Its deluxe airflow mattress offers an ideal sleeping surface and the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings as well as an incline option that can help with reflux and congestion.
The Tutti Bambini COZee air crib has a fabric that can be removed and wipe-clean lining. This makes it much easier to clean than other bedside cribs that are a mess to clean. It also comes with a top bar that can be easily lowered to accommodate nighttime feedings without the need to juggle zips.
Anna discovered the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable sleeping space for her baby. She was delighted the fact that it didn't roll like some other models, so it didn't wake her at night when she was trying to comfort her baby for feeds. She also enjoyed the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner to pull the baby to feed her at night.
The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a beautiful addition to the bedroom. It looks more like an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs we've tested, and can appear quite utilitarian. It's also fairly light at just 11kg, and comes with a carry case which allows you to take it away on holidays or if moving home. The only things you'll need to buy are a waterproof cover and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The instructions and illustrations are simple to follow once you open the box.
The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bassinet for the bed that helps parents feel connected to their infant while they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and moved to three different slide positions to be placed beside the bed of the parent or in the corner, so that the baby is always within reach. The mesh siding allows air to flow through and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also store any extra pajamas or items in the large basket beneath.
The Iora is a bedside cot bed crib that is smaller and folds flat. It also comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken anywhere. Our mum testers found it easy to move from room to room and felt that it was a good size for a bedside cots cot for bedside that was not too big or too small. The large storage basket is great to store extra bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents looking to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but don't wish to share their beds, or whose partners might be suffering from mobility issues, such as back problems or arthritis. Our mom testers are thrilled with the convenience of being able to access their child in the Iora, and it also has an option to tilt the bed upwards to help alleviate gas.
Our mothers appreciate the fact that it complies with NICE guidelines that state to put the baby in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys pillows, etc.). The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for the baby, and sheets are easily available. It's not as light as other smaller cribs on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier to move around, consider a different option.
