WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrades upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item level Upgrade has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item level upgrade for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific Best item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade items their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
