World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades provide players with the possibility of upgrading equipment that they already own. This can be done through any upgrader of items NPC.
Upgrades can boost the stats of an item upgrading, and can also add extras based on its type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB sorcs and Goldwrap for build casters.
Armour
Armour is one of the main factors that keep Link protected from damage in all situations. Although it cannot be upgraded like weapons, you can improve its defence capabilities in different ways.
The fundamental idea behind armour is to safeguard the person or animal from physical harm or injury in the form of direct physical attack or an array of environmental and activity hazards. Historically, most armour was made from fabric or leather, but metal protections were also used, especially for military applications like heavy cavalry and combat drones.
There are a variety of ways to upgrade armour however the majority require you to visit one of four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain has a distinct level of upgrade and higher levels of protection requiring more rupees and other materials.
First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been applied they aren't able to be removed in the event that you own a piece of equipment that has the same upgrade. It is important that you only apply the highest level of upgrades to your equipment and that you have enough of the necessary materials to complete the process.
For those who want to acquire the necessary upgrade components you'll find them all over Hyrule such as shrines, merchants, and even enemies. These will generally be marked with an gold circle or blue triangle symbol, and can be found in large numbers as you advance through the game. While they may appear randomly, there's a chance that acquiring certain upgrade components will trigger quests that reward you with more.
It is also important to note that although the level of protection offered by each upgrade differs, it is the same for all upgrades and will always be superior to nothing. This is because a complete set of upgraded armour will provide you with a substantial defense boost that protects you from all kinds of attacks, except magic which makes it a very effective tool for any class.
Weapons
You can upgrade your guns with special upgrades to make them truly unique. These upgrades can increase the damage or change the stats of the weapon to match your particular build. They also allow new attachments, such as unique enchantments, different kinds of ammunition, and aesthetic options.
To upgrade a weapon you'll need to have an upgrade component in place as well as the Best item upgrader itself. The weapon must be at a minimum of an appropriate level to upgrade it. Most weapons can only take one upgrade.
Weapon upgrade components are available all over the world from enemies or from merchants. The upgrade components themselves are a combination of components that can be slotted into weapons, armor trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools to give an attribute bonus or other effect when they are in use. The equipment has to be of a certain level before it can accept the upgrade. It can be upgraded the same way as other items.
Upgrades are a mix of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to improve the power of weapons and increase their ability to scale with other stats. These upgrades can be obtained from enemies in the open or from merchants. They can also be dropped by combat.
Two NPCs can upgrade your weapon: the Blacksmith Hewg, in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji located in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs will accept your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a more powerful version of the weapon as well as an upgrade item.
It's crucial to prioritize upgrading your most-used items first, followed by the ones you won't replace in the near future. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your shoulders, chest, hands, and feet if you plan to play a melee build. The same principles apply to Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that certain procs may be better than others based on the style of play you prefer. The same is true for Armour and reforges, with some being better than others.
Magic Items
A character can upgrade only one magic item at a time. If an upgrade plan is cancelled, any subsequent upgrades for the item will not start. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to make or purchase, but can have additional benefits.
A magical item is any item that has special properties or effects. These are usually weapons, but they could also be armors, shields, cloaks and potions. They can also be scrolls, rings or other items. Certain of these items can be made sentient.
The majority of magic items enhance their capabilities. This makes them more useful for players, or could help them conquer any difficult situation. A weapon that contains a special substance might offer, for instance, extra damage against a certain kind of enemy. This is particularly useful for characters that have reached a level where they are likely to encounter the same kind of monster in dungeons over and over again.
A ring that is infused can grant protection against piercing, bludgeoning or slashing injuries from non-magical attacks (not including silver-plated ones) until the next time the character takes a lengthy rest. This is particularly beneficial for melee martial characters, or any character who wishes to save the hassle and expense of buying shields.
Some enchanted items have special powers that let the character cast spells in addition to those listed on the list of spells for their class. This is a great benefit for characters that have trouble maintaining their spell slots due to multiclassing. These magical objects require an Intelligence check (Arcana), and the spell is determined by rolling a table based upon the number of Intelligence point expended.
Other enchanted items might allow the user to alter their appearance, or even create a completely new appearance. They can be especially useful for those who have had to leave their home, or are in a situation where they might not be accepted. A magical item upgrade may grant them invisibility or make them invisible for anyone, excluding the person they choose to.
Utility Items
Utility items are products that don't fall into the categories of clothing, armor or Weapons and offer various capabilities. Unlike Armor and Weapons, no one utility item can conflict with another. The majority of utility items have a passive effect which players can activate while using them. Some have additional abilities that can be activated by pressing a button, or by activating the skill.
Generally speaking, the most popular kind of utility Item Upgrade is the Flashlight, which illuminates the surrounding area. Other useful items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player float in mid-air while moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in all directions when on the ground. In the Engineering section you can quickly create a variety of useful items, while others are available only through Research projects or Experimental projects on the Proving Ground.
In addition to the items that are available in the regular inventory, players can unlock additional useful items of utility by buying them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Some of these items can be upgraded for more effective use.
Most utility items increase the combat ability of a particular character or give the player some kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. For example, Sharpening stones made by the Weaponsmith increase Power and Ferocity as well as Maintenance Oils created by the Huntsman improve the power of concentration and healing. Other items of utility, such as Writs and Theses made by the Scribe can be used to give the player an increase in damage or condition damage.
All XCOM soldiers can equip a utility item at the beginning of the campaign. Later, an additional slot becomes available through the use of certain types armor or completing engineering, research or experimental projects in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters downloadable content, additional slots are available by equipping a Grenade Launcher. This permits players to use a Smoke Grenade or Bomb while an offensive grenade is kept in the main slot.
